Why Stability Matters

6 March 2019

IRI Chief Operating Officer John Ramage explains why a successful ship registry is not about personalities, but a team.

No-one is indispensable and when it comes to running a ship registry, a team approach is critical for success. A large, responsible ship registry cannot and should not be run by one individual, but by a professional global management structure. The flag State administration is critical to the operations of any shipping company, and without this structure, stakeholders from across the industry are left without the stability and continuity they need.

IRI’s senior management team: Theofilos Xenakoudis, Managing Director of the IRI Piraeus office and Director, Worldwide Business Operations; Annie Ng, Head of Asia; Bill Gallagher, President; Laura Sherman, Director, Marketing & Communications/Operations Technology Officer, John Ramage Chief Operating Officer

International Registries, Inc. and its affiliates (IRI), which provide administrative and technical support to the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Registry have continued to develop a decentralized approach which includes investing in employees who are empowered and entrusted to fulfil the company’s philosophy of professionalism and providing excellent service delivery.  This is achieved through our network of 28 wholly owned offices staffed with technical and commercial experts who are able to respond immediately to local owners’ requests.  The provision of timely and accurate information develops trust between the owner and the RMI Registry which is a very important element in any relationship.

Understanding the issues that give owners the most concern is a key objective of the RMI Registry and IRI is proud of its employees and their capabilities in resolving these issues. The investment made in employee training and development is testament to the strength of the Registry and also encouragement for the longevity of employees.

IRI’s senior managers and Managing Partners have been with the company for many years and are supported by an up and coming team. It is this stability and expertise of the personnel within the Registry that has given owners the trust to steadily register their vessels under the RMI flag. With 14 consecutive years on Qualship 21 and a white list status with the Paris and Tokyo Memorandums of Understanding, the RMI Registry has unmatched service and steadfast quality.
