SIRB and SQC Application Procedures
In order to qualify for a Special Qualification Certificate (SQC), the seafarer must provide proof of passing an approved training course or present an equivalent certificate issued by a recognized administration in accordance with International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).
The SQC is designed to be affixed to the allotted space in the SIRB. For complete details regarding the issuance of the SIRB and SQC refer to the MI-118, Requirements for Seafarer Certification (Sections 4 and 5).
The MI-273, Application for Seafarers’ Identification and Record Book and Special Qualifications may be downloaded and filled in electronically. Once you have completed the form, the form must be dated and the applicant and filing agent must sign the form in the appropriate boxes. THE ORIGINAL SIGNED FORM MUST BE MAILED to an IRI office.
Submission of Applications
The MI-273 must be submitted in person to a receiving/filing agent who has been approved by the RMI Maritime Administrator.
