Vangelis Moutafis

Mr. Moutafis joined IRI’s Piraeus office in August 2012 as a Maritime Operations Specialist. In May 2022 he was promoted to Senior Manager, Management Systems Certification. Mr. Moutafis is actively engaged in ensuring compliance with the International Ship Management (ISM) and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Codes, the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, and the Inventory of Hazardous Materials. He is also fully integrated with the ship security and technical teams providing advice and guidance to owners and operators on such matters. Prior to joining IRI, Mr. Moutafis worked for 10 years as a Designated Person Ashore/Company Security Officer for Greek shipowning companies responsible for the oversight of ISM/ISPS external and internal audits (ashore and shipboard), as well as flag and port State control inspections. He received his Bachelor of Science Honors in International Shipping & Transport from the London Metropolitan University and his Master of Science in Marine Policy from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
