ESR Seminars Focus on Information Sharing

22 January 2025

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Corporate Registry held two seminars on Economic Substance Regulations (ESR) in the fourth quarter of 2024. Designed to update the international business community on RMI ESR changes and to provide an opportunity for information sharing and discussion, both the webinar and the in-person seminar in Athens included professionals and stakeholders from the maritime and legal communities. More than 200 individuals participated in these seminars, which covered topics from updates to the RMI ESR Reporting Portal; European Union (EU) Whitelist; ESR Audit Procedures; and future EU Requirements. Speakers included a range of legal and maritime professionals from International Registries, Inc. and its affiliates (IRI), which provide administrative and technical support to the RMI Maritime and Corporate Registries, as well as RMI licensed attorneys and qualified intermediaries Damien Magee, Vanessa Tzoannos, and Maria Gkoutsiou. Alison Wilson, Senior International Counsel, Head of Office (IRI Long Beach) coordinated the in-person event which included a lively Q& A session after the panel discussion and Diego Ramirez (IRI Ft. Lauderdale) coordinated the webinar.

The RMI Corporate Registry evolves to adapt to the demands of the modern international business framework, while remaining compliant with international guidelines and regulations. Accessibility and communication, hallmarks of the Registry’s customer service-oriented philosophy, underscore the RMI as a jurisdiction of choice for international shipping companies and business professionals.
