Receiving/Filing Agent Responsibilities
Over 2,000 filing agents throughout the world have been approved to receive and file applications. Managers may apply directly to the RMI Maritime Administrator for authorization to act as a filing agent. A filing agent’s responsibilities include:
- Reviewing the application forms for completeness and accuracy
- Verifying that the photographs and identity documents do in fact identify the applicant
- Ensuring that the required physical examination is current (MI-105M, Medical Examination Report/Certificate)
- Reviewing the original qualifying documentation
- Witnessing the signing of the application and completing the section reserved for the filing agent
