The Maritime Services Group Meets in Reston

6 December 2024

The Maritime Services Group (MSG) met at the Reston headquarters of International Registries, Inc. and its affiliates (IRI) in October 2024 for the final MSG meeting of the year. IRI President Bill Gallagher and Chief Maritime Officer Simon Bonnett opened the meeting with remarks and updates on the Registry, while Chief Commercial Officer Theo Xenakoudis provided an in-depth analysis on current market conditions and challenges. Baron Bigler, Senior Vice President, Government Relations, from the Majruo office, provided an overall update on the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

The two-day meeting included updates and presentations from departments on both the status of operations and projects under development. Representatives from Baltimore/Annapolis, Fort Lauderdale, Geneva, London, Long Beach, Majuro, New York, Piraeus, Reston, and Vancouver offices were in attendance. The MSG, which has met regularly for more than a decade, gathers to review fleet performance, operations, and assess strategic goals across offices and departments, building strong relationships to support global client services.

The October meeting facilitated the sharing of perspectives, knowledge, and experiences from the Registry’s teams, which contributes to the support of the growing RMI-registered fleet. Action items and takeaways from this meeting aim to assess and strengthen operations to enhance client services, ship safety, seafarers’ welfare, ship security, and environmental compliance.
