Representatives from IRI/The Marshall Islands Registry converged on Stamford, Connecticut this week for the Connecticut Maritime Association’s (CMA’s) Annual Shipping Conference and Exhibition. CMA Shipping brings together leading figures in the maritime community for discussion on the issues facing the industry today.

With this in mind, the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Registry held an insightful Legal Roundtable meeting on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, the last day of the conference. The Legal Roundtable’s purpose was to discuss the recent legislative changes and important evolutions in the RMI’s status with the European Union and other international organizations, as well as recent updates to the RMI Associations Law.

Recently, the RMI was removed from the European Council’s list of non-cooperative jurisdictions, more information on which can be found here.
