IRI/The Marshall Islands Registry hosted a Nautical Inspector’s Seminar from 15-16 May 2018 at the Piraeus Marine Club. The two-day long seminar covered important issues facing inspectors in today’s shipping environment, including port State control (PSC) matters and avoiding PSC detentions, the role of the human element in inspections, situational awareness, navigation with Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDISs), and an overview of the safety inspection process. The seminar concluded with the attendees providing suggestions on ways to improve the performance of safety inspections and a Q&A session. Certificates of Completion were awarded to the attending inspectors.
