Remote Inspections

17 April 2020

Despite global COVID-19 restrictions, the RMI flagged fleet is active and busy bringing goods, fuel, and equipment around the world. In the video clip below, Brian Poskaitis, Senior Vice President, Fleet Operations reviews a portion of the Critical Items Checklist with the Captain of a Greek owned vessel via radio in the Chesapeake Bay in the United States. Since the first remote inspection on 25 March, the Fleet Operations team has completed 65 additional inspections, and has more than 80 in process. The remote inspection process is very involved and labor intensive. While not all remote inspections are in a location where our team can physically take a launch out, the inspection in the video below is part of the remote inspection process which required several passes alongside the vessel with coordination from the Master and crew. Adaptable, flexible, and focused on client needs, the RMI Registry remains committed to our high standards even in these challenging conditions.
