IRI supports educational initiative in Crete and Macedonia

27 January 2020

IRI is proud to continue supporting the educational initiative.  In November and December 2019, IRI participated in two conferences for the Merchant Marine Academies of Macedonia and Crete.  Approximately 700 students and 25 shipping companies attended the AEN Macedonia conference in November 2019 and nearly 500 students and 20 shipping companies participated in the AEN Crete conference in December 2019.

Both conferences had representatives from shipping companies and educational institutions who spoke on panels designed to provide students with real life information about seafaring and careers in the maritime industry. Captain Theodore Lalas, Fleet Operations Manager, IRI, presented at both conferences on the purpose, structure, operations, and procedures of a ship registry. He also provided background about the Marshall Islands Registry and discussed the quality service that sets the Registry apart and has led to its success in the Greek market and worldwide.
