IRI presents on port State control and flag State

IRI/The Marshall Islands Registry participated in Olympic Shipping and Management S.A. and Springfield Shipping Co. Panama S.A.’s Officers Forum held from 4-5 April 2019. These forums, part of the company’s safety management system and best management practices, aim to continually improve the culture of safety within the company. Captain Theodore Lalas, IRI Fleet Operations Manager presented on port State control (PSC) inspections focusing on deficiencies observed and the role of the flag State.

More than 80 front line shipboard and shoreside personnel attended the Forum, including senior officers, engineers, and petty officers.  Other topics included the fleet’s safety performance, commercial operations, cybersecurity, medical issues, bullying and harassment on board, a reflecting learning exercise, and a tabletop exercise with the participation of salvage and marine firefighting (SMFF) service providers and P&I clubs.
