Oceania Takes Delivery of Second Allura Class Vessel

18 August 2025

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Registry welcomed Oceania Cruises’ ALLURA to the fleet on 10 July 2025. ALLURA is the eighth Oceania vessel flagged with the RMI, the second ship of Oceania’s Allura class, and sister ship to the VISTA, which was delivered in 2023.

Fincantieri S.p.A. delivered the vessel to Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, during a ceremony at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa. Participating at the delivery on behalf of the RMI Registry was Angela Plott, Vice President, Client Relations – Cruise.

Additional Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) executives on hand to welcome the vessel were Harry Sommer, President and CEO; Patrik Dahlgren, Executive Vice President, Chief Vessel Operations and Newbuild Officer; and Daniel S. Farkas, Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary.

On 14 July 2025, ALLURA sailed from Genoa under the command of Captain Pavle Silic for a four-day, four-night, pre-inaugural “shakedown” voyage to Trieste. RMI Registry representatives joining the vessel for this voyage were Hans Molver, Client Relations Technical Lead – Cruise and Simon Bonnett, Chief Maritime Officer.

Actively involved with the ALLURA since the ship order was announced, the RMI Maritime Administrator (the “Administrator”) collaborated and coordinated throughout the extensive build and registration process with owner representatives and the classification society, Lloyd’s Register.

The ALLURA matches the size of its sister ship at 67,000 gross tons, and 791 feet (242 meters) long. The vessel will be christened and named on 13 November at Port Miami.

During the flag change over ceremony aboard the ALLURA, Mr. Montague confirmed plans to welcome Oceania’s first Sonata class vessels, the SONATA and ARIETTA in 2027 and 2029, respectively. He also announced that NCLH has ordered two additional Sonata class from Fincantieri, with confirmed deliveries in 2032 and 2035. The RMI Maritime Administrator is actively involved with the SONATA and ARIETTA projects.

ALLURA represents a growing number of innovative passenger vessels incorporating sustainable technology and solutions whose companies have chosen to flag with the RMI. With the support of the Administrator, the ALLURA incorporates advanced engineering, greener fuel choices, and energy efficiency to enhance compliant and sustainable ship operations. The ALLURA expands on Oceania’s sustainability commitment and is built with a highly efficient hull design and propulsion system, optimizing hydrodynamics to reduce fuel consumption. Operating exclusively on marine gas oil (MGO), the vessel runs advanced energy management systems to optimize operations and support compliance with international environmental regulations.

The 1,200-guest and 800 crew ALLURA offers luxury onboard experience with a special focus on fine cuisine and wine thanks to its fresh chef experience and hands-on culinary center, fine dining restaurants, and brand-new Gelateria. According to Oceania, the vessel was “named to reflect the excitement of starting an immersive new journey.” In honor of this immersive journey focused on fine cuisine, a selection of “Food & Wine” Best New Chefs alumni will serve as godparents of the ship. Two “Best New Chefs Cruises” will debut on the ALLURA in 2026.

ALLURA will begin its maiden voyage in July from Trieste sailing to Athens with two itineraries in the Eastern Mediterranean. It then transits to North America for a fall season in New England and a winter season based in PortMiami. ALLURA’s inaugural season will feature 26 voyages across 92 destinations.
