Brian Bubar

Marine Technical Advisor

Mr. Bubar joined IRI in September 2005 after 21 years of active-duty service as an officer in the USCG. In 2007, he became a Marine Technical Advisor to the Registry where he assists in technical marine matters, among others. His responsibilities with the USCG included pollution prevention and response, marine technical policy development, and vessel design and approval. His final USCG assignment was as Chief, Engineering Division at the Marine Safety Center. Mr. Bubar graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy with a B.S. in Marine Engineering and a license as a Third Assistant Engineer, Unlimited Horsepower Steam and Motor. He earned his M. Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
