TechCirc-22 Alternative Methods for Lifeboat Drills on Mobile Offshore Units (MOUs) UPDATED 02/2017

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) amended §14.13.4 of the 2009 Code for the Construction and Equipment of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU Code) to allow for an alternative means of meeting the §14.13.4.2 requirement for lifeboats to be launched and maneuvered with assigned operating crew on onboard at least once every three (3) months.
TechCirc-21 Testing Arrangements For Watertight Compartments NEW 07/16/2015
  NEW: The Maritime Safety Committee, at its ninety-fifth session, has confirmed that there is no need to amend SOLAS regulation II-1/11 or to develop any associated guidelines, as the safety level is sufficient. Consequently, it was concluded that International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) Unified Requirement (UR) S14 on the testing procedures of watertight compartments is available for any Flag Administration to use on a case-by-case basis.

This Technical Circular delineates the Republic of the Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator’s requirement that all on-load release mechanisms shall be in accordance with LSA Code 4.4.7.6 and shall be evaluated in accordance with IMO MSC.1/Circ.1392, regardless of whether the release mechanism is installed on a life boat or rescue boat.
