It does not include reporting requirements for piracy (successful or attempted) and armed robbery (MN-2-011-31), stowaways (MG-7-41-5) or MARPOL contraventions, such as low sulphur fuel oil reporting requirements (MN-2-013-8) and inadequate reception facilities (MN-2-014-2). Reporting requirements for these are contained in the documents indentified in parentheses.

  Issued as of 3/13, this Guideline advises all shipowners, operators, seafarers, agents and recognized organizations of the provisions to be contained in a Seafarer Employment Agreement (SEA) as stipulated under the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Act and Regulations. These guidelines do not preclude the shipowner/operator from demonstrating an equivalent or higher standard as evidence of compliance, or incorporating any applicable collective bargaining agreement

Revised as of 2/13 so extensively that it should be treated as a new document. It provides an overview of the new IMO guidelines and Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Administrator (the “Administrator”) recommendations, highlighting the information most relevant to RMI flag ships and seafarers and supplements requirements for merchant marine personnel certification contained in MI-107, §825, in MI-108, §7.47.4 and in MI-118.
